Things you need to know about our classroom...
Newsletters- Each week you will receive a newsletter that contains all the important information from our classroom. Please be sure to look for it on Fridays.
Mail- Mail will be coming home almost everyday. Please check your child’s folder each day. This is also a great place to put notes for me as I check the folders first thing each morning. Lunch- Lunch will begin on Wednesday. For the first week or so it works best if your child brings their lunch to help with the transition. If your student buys lunch it is $2.50 per day. Free and reduced lunch is available; forms are available in the office or I would be happy to send one home. Snacks- We will have a snack time each day. Your child should bring his or her own “healthy” snack for snack time. Fruits, vegetables, cheese, or crackers are all great choices! Please keep in mind that snack time is very short- so you will want your child to chose something that can be finished in 5-10 minutes. |
Birthdays- Birthdays are a special time for kindergartners and we love to celebrate. On your child’s birthday he or she is welcome to bring in a non-edible treat to share with the class. Pencils, stickers, erasers are always big hits. Please, no food items.
Star of the week- Beginning later this month we will begin star of the week. Our star of the week is our line leader, calendar aide, and shares something with us each day of their week. I will send more information home about this. Extra clothes- Accidents can happen. Please put an extra set of clothes on a larger Ziploc bag at the bottom of your child’s backpack- just in case. Volunteers- Volunteers are an important part of our classroom. Whether you can come in the classroom or help at home, we appreciate any time you can give. You will need to have a background check on file in order to volunteer in the classroom. I will begin volunteers later in September once the children have settled into their routine. Bookbags |
Homework- Every month your child will receive a monthly homework packet with 5 short activities per week. Please help your child complete the homework packet and return the first of the month. In addition to the monthly homework there will be a few fun projects for your child to complete throughout the year.
Arrival: The first day students will line up at the classroom door. The rest of the year please line your student up at the east back double doors. There is a Kindergarten sign to show where they need to line up. Once the bell rings doors will open and your student will come inside by themselves and unpack. I will be there along with other teachers to assist them! Dismissal- Dismissal is at 3:15 pm. Students will be dismissed from the classroom door. Please put a note in your child’s folder saying “bus” or “SACC” if you are NOT picking them up from the classroom (for at least the first week of school). Our service squad will walk bus riders to the bus beginning on Wednesday. All bus riders need to have their bus tag pinned to their backpacks (which I will provide). |
